Overview

The evacuation is already on the Battle of Cape St Vincent 1797 — Overview. After the second Treaty of San Ildefonso 1796, the British Mediterranean fleet was forced out: Corsica was evacuated in November 1796 and Jervis John Earl St Vincent — Biography withdrew to the Tagus.¹

The Evacuation

This note covers that November 1796 evacuation only. A garrison, a fort name, troop numbers, and the Tagus as its own page stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE.

The same battle note already records Córdova sailing from Cartagena — Spanish Naval Port on 1 February 1797. That sailing stays on the Cartagena note. Do not invent who held the island or how the withdrawal was done.²
