Overview
The partnership is already on the Second Coalition 1798–1802 and the Battle of the Nile 1798 — Overview. Britain used the prestige of 1 August 1798 to assemble Russia, Austria, the Ottoman Empire, and Naples against France.1
The Partnership
This note covers that Ottoman partnership only. Accession dates, later campaigns on land, and the Peace of Amiens stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE.
The Nile destroyed eleven of thirteen French ships of the line in Aboukir Bay — Egypt and stranded Bonaparte’s army in Egypt. That Mediterranean reverse is the licensed cause given on the battle note. The India-route threat stays on Egypt Expedition — Threat to the India Route 1798.2
