Brest — Intended 1805 Junction

Overview

The intended junction is already on the Battle of Cape Finisterre 1805. The return from the West Indies still needed a junction with the Brest fleet. After 22 July Villeneuve Pierre-Charles — French Admiral went south instead of on to Brest. A Combined Fleet that did not go to Brest could not open the Channel.¹

The Intended Port

This note covers that intended 1805 junction only. A founding year, a yard plan, a garrison, and a Brest fleet list stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE.

The same Finisterre note already records that Villeneuve later put into Vigo and Coruña, then Cadiz — Spanish Naval Port. Those put-ins stay there. Gravina Federico — Spanish Admiral already records the turn into Cadiz instead of Brest. Do not invent that the Combined Fleet reached this port.²
