The Wound

This note covers that 24 July 1797 wound only. Canister, chain shot, and a nature-of-guns table stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE.

The humerus was shattered beyond repair. Eshelby Thomas — Surgeon HMS Theseus amputated the arm above the elbow aboard HMS Theseus — Overview. The 32-pounder note lists grape shot as a cluster of smaller balls in a canvas bag, anti-personnel at close range. That list-line stays there; this note does not merge it into a new specification.²
