HMS Foudroyant — 80-gun Third Rate
Generated illustration. Not a historical photograph. A British two-decker. Not a named portrait of Foudroyant.
Overview
Foudroyant is already on Hardy Thomas Masterman — Captain HMS Victory. After Hardy was posted captain into HMS Vanguard — Nelson’s Nile Flagship on 2 October 1798, he was Nelson’s flag captain in Vanguard, then in Foudroyant, then in St George, then in HMS Amphion, and finally in HMS Victory — Overview from 31 July 1803.1
Service
This note covers that flag-captain posting only. A launch year, a later career, and St George’s own note stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE. The 80-gun rating is the title already used on the Hardy note; do not add a specification table beyond that.2
