The coat is already on Greenwich Hospital — Royal Hospital for Seamen and Hardy Thomas Masterman — Captain HMS Victory. As Governor from 1834, Hardy abolished the degrading yellow punishment coat.¹

The Abolition

This note covers that abolition only. Cut, regulation, and other dress stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE. Pensioner numbers stay on the hospital note’s queue line.

He also reformed pensioner discipline. He died at Greenwich on 20 September 1839.²
