Overview

Tsar Paul I is already on the League of Armed Neutrality of the North 1800–1801 and the Battle of Copenhagen 1801 — Overview. He formed that Second League in December 1800 with Denmark, Sweden, Russia, and Prussia.¹

The League

This note covers that league role only. A full reign, the assassination as a Russian court note, and the 1780 first league stay on RESEARCH_QUEUE.

The league asserted neutral shipping rights and threatened to close the Baltic. Paul I had been assassinated ten days before 2 April 1801; news had not reached either fleet. Tsar Alexander I of Russia then withdrew.²
